Lexington County Master Gardener Volunteers are pleased to feature seven Midlands’s gardens and Big Moon Farm - a working farm for their 10th Annual Spring Garden Tour. Take a morning, an afternoon or entire day to savor the beauty of diverse gardens featuring fabulous stone fountains, ponds, pools, whimsical yard art, and rare native plants!
Experience the wonder of Big Moon Farm, where fragrant herbs mingle with the cackles of hens laying fresh eggs while cattle graze nearby. Learn the true meaning of ‘eating local’ at this local CSA farm (community supported agriculture).
Two gardens in Gilbert, on Lake Murray, are distinctive for their lushly landscaped pools! One is surrounded by hostas, and hydrangeas, and beckons wildlife with multiple birdhouses. The other has a gradual entry pool surrounded by lush, tropical landscaping, and a courtyard fountain. This garden has many examples of artistic stonework.
In a Lexington garden, owned by an artist and Master Gardener, you will find yourself surrounded by whimsical garden creatures living in harmony with the perennials and annual filled containers.
Enjoy an oasis in Woodcreek where sun loving perennials abound in the front yard, while the backyard is a shade lover’s paradise. Hostas, ivy, and azaleas surround numerous water features, including a stacked rock waterfall. Follow the tour on to West Columbia where there are three gardens owned by our own Master Gardeners. One of these is home to many native species as well as charming mountain laurel which is rarely found in Columbia.
Tickets with directions to the gardens will be mailed to you after May 1st. Gardens may be visited in any order, on any of the tour days. Because we are most grateful to those who are serving in our country’s military, all who have served, including retired and active military personnel have free admission for themselves to the Garden Tour.
Proceeds from our Garden Tour go to the Lexington
County Master Gardener Volunteers Sam Cheatham Scholarship Fund, sponsoring Horticultural students.
