The 2008 Spring Symposium will again be featuring a number of nonprofit organizations that share our common interests and concerns.  We hope you will stop by to visit with them.

HISTORIC COLUMBIA FOUNDATION: Historic Columbia is actively engaged in a variety of preservation programs, including creating a historic garden district, restoring our city's historic markers, identifying landmark properties, honoring preservation initiatives through annual awards, and educating the community about preservation through lectures, meetings, and events. SC WILDLIFE FOUNDATION: The South Carolina Wildlife Federation is active in promoting sound stewardship of our natural treasures. Through educational and public awareness programs along with unique partnerships, the Federation works to establish policies which sustain, protect, and enhance the natural systems which give life to us all. They promote a habitat garden program for schoolyards, businesses, and residential properties. You can access their website at : www.scwf.org.

THE CLIMATE PROTECTION ACTION COMMITTEE: CPAC is a volunteer group established by the City of Columbia for the purpose of identifying measures that can be taken to reduce greenhouse gases. The committee's initial focus has been internal to City government. In the future, the committee will identify community outreach and educational programs to encourage others to take action to live "greener."  You can access their website at:  www.coccpac.com.

KEEP THE MIDLANDS BEAUTIFUL: Established in 1989 to serve Richland and Lexington Counties, Keep the Midlands Beautiful provides sustainable solutions for individuals and groups to improve the physical and visual aspects of their community through beautification, waste reduction and recycling, and litter prevention. Our mission is to empower individuals to take greater responsibility for enhancing their community environment. Each year, thousands of Midlands residents volunteer to support this mission - with more than 200 groups regularly removing litter on area roads, communities and schools planting bushes and flowers to beautify their surroundings, and local businesses supporting recycling programs.  Please visit our website at www.keepthemidlandsbeautiful.org.
